Our Japanese Restaurant

We have begun to serve Japanese cuisine every Wednesday
and Saturday evening and so far it is going quite well.
The local people from here in Madoc and the surrounding
towns are very happy to have Japanese food.

Our precious friends in Japan, Mr. and Mrs. Hoshino
sent us this beautiful little Japanese umbrella that has
a light in it, so we put it up right away and it looks
wonderful!

Thank you very much Mr. and Mrs. Hoshino, you have sent
us a bit of Japan to warm up our restaurant!!

Canadian Maple Syrup

When the sap comes out of the trees it is very thin
like water and looks like water.
The sap from from the trees goes into big steel vats
and boiled for many hours until only thick, brown
maple syrup remains.

Yummy, sweet maple syrup!

Willy stokes the fire.
Annie stokes the fire.
The buckets on the trees collecting the sap that is running
from the taps that are drilled into the tree.

Welcome to Sunny Side Up!

Today was our grand opening!
"Sunny Side Up" restaurant is now officially the Hatano Wallace's place to cook and serve you.
(The taking down of the old sign)

Paul and Mary Jane, the original owners of "Sunset" restaurant, have been our very own angels! They've passed on all the business as well as the know how and hands on training and experience these past weeks, and though we are all going to miss them, we know God is going to bless them so much for their love and care for Him and others all these years, and our love and prayers and thankfulness is always with them.
(The brand new sign)

A big thank you! and round of applause for Aunt Lynda who gave us her expert talent, time, and skills in creating our logo!! We love you so much! Now you not only have a place in our hearts but right up front where all can see.

The Reeve and Deputy Reeve of Madoc came to do the ribbon cutting and officiated the opening and welcoming of our restaurant in Madoc. We were also presented with a beautiful apron baring the insignia of the township and were each given a piece of the ribbon.

Grandpa and Grandma drove all the way out here on Sunday to be with us and celebrate our restaurant opening together. Chihiro, our cousin from Japan who has been studying here in Canada, also came to be with us on this day! It was such a blessing and honor to be surrounded with family and as well as so many new friends who came out to be with us on this special day.

With the whole family here at the restaurant we all got turns meeting and serving the customers!

Later on in the afternoon Greg's basketball team and coaches came in for 'wings'. Mary Jane came in to help and we served them all you can eat chicken wings with fries and pop!

All in all it was a full day, a new day, a good day :) A big thank you to everyone who made it possible, for your love, for your prayers, for your support! We couldn't do it without you and we will continue to depend on your prayers! We love you so much and will keep you all updated.

And here ends another day which God has given us--a day to rejoice and be glad...and a day to end and get some sleep! Good night!
